You may think that independent is independent and you would be right in 99% of cases.
When it comes to mortgage advice however there is a massive gulf between a "independent mortgage adviser" and a "independent financial and mortgage adviser"
Confused?
Don't be. An independent mortgage adviser will give you mortgage advice that is independent and mortgage protection/life assurance advice that is limited by the company that they work for. E.g. An independent mortgage adviser that works for Winterthur life (or Legal and General, Allied Dunbar etc) can only advise on their company's products - the likelihood that their product is the most suitable and most competitive for you is slight at best.
As you would guess by the fact that we're pointing this out - we are both independent financial and mortgage advisers. Which is good news for you.
Obviously we offer mortgage advice that is independent but we also research which company is right for you when it comes to the mortgage protection and life assurance that is usually needed to run alongside a mortgage. Basically we work for you - not for a specific company.
So what !
You may say...and that would be your decision. However just looking at the money that you could be throwing away. If you opt for insurance that is £8 per month more expensive than one that we could offer. Not a lot of money but when you consider that the policy could run to 25 years. The savings that can be made are extremely substantial E.g. £8 x 12 months x 25 years = £2,400.
Now you know the difference - if for some reason you don't use our services - ask your mortgage adviser whether they're really independent. If they're not - THINK TWICE.
